Who can take part

  • You must be 65 years old or older.
  • You have had surgery for a broken hip (the top part of your thigh bone).
  • Your blood test shows low red blood cells (anemia) between 1 and 5 days after surgery.
  • Before the fracture, you could walk indoors without help from another person.
  • You are not allergic to intravenous iron and do not live in a nursing home.
