  • You are between 12 and 18 years old.
  • You have had type 2 diabetes for more than 3 months.
  • Your average blood sugar (A1C) is between 6.5% and 8.5%.
  • Your weight is above the 85th percentile for your age and height.
  • You are not currently using insulin.
  • You have been on a stable dose of your diabetes medicines for at least 3 months.
