Preoperative Anemia Severity and Classification Before Surgery

This study looks at how different levels and types of anemia (low red blood cells) before planned surgery affect your recovery. If you have anemia and are having a moderate- to high-risk surgery (not brain or heart), you may be able to join to help doctors learn how to better prepare patients for surgery.

Anemia before cancer surgery and death risk

This study looks at whether having anemia (low red blood cells) before cancer surgery is linked to a higher risk of death. It may help find patients who need extra care before their operation.

Use a pre-surgery plan to treat anemia before an operation

This trial looks at whether following a hospital guideline to treat anemia before surgery helps patients have better pre-op care. You may be eligible if you have anemia found during a pre-anesthesia clinic visit.

Finding the best care for low blood before planned surgery

This study looks at how to detect and treat pre-surgery anemia (low hemoglobin/low blood level) in people having planned operations where blood transfusion is likely. Some participants may also use a machine that collects and returns their own blood during surgery to reduce the need for donor blood.
