Who can take part

  • You must be between 2 and 17 years old.
  • If you have autism, you need a formal diagnosis based on DSM-5 and confirmed with a special assessment called ADOS-2.
  • If you are part of the control group, you cannot have a family history of autism or other brain development conditions.
  • You cannot have certain genetic syndromes like Rett, Fragile X, or others listed.
  • You cannot have had a brain injury or certain long-term health problems.
  • You must be able to have an MRI scan of your head (no metal implants or claustrophobia that prevents it).
