Laser treatment for scarring hair loss with gene study

Scarring Alopecia

This trial tests if a non-ablative laser can help treat scarring alopecia (a type of hair loss where follicles are replaced by scar tissue). Researchers will also study your hair follicles' genes to understand how the laser works. It may be an option if your hair loss has been stable for at least 3 months.

Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with scarring alopecia in the past 6 months (by biopsy or a skin doctor)
  • Your hair loss treatment has been stable and not changing for at least 3 months
  • You agree not to start new hair loss medications or change your routine during the study
  • You have not had steroid injections in your scalp in the last 12 months
  • You are not pregnant, do not smoke or vape, and have no recent COVID-19 infection
