This study looks at how your genes and sex affect the way your body uses EPA, a key fat found in fish oil. If you are healthy and not currently eating fish or taking fish oil supplements, you may help researchers learn why people respond differently to omega-3s.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old and in good health.
  • Your BMI is between 18.5 and 30 (a healthy weight range).
  • You have not eaten fish, seafood, or foods with added omega-3s in the last 6 months.
  • You have not taken any omega-3 supplements (flaxseed, fish oil, etc.) in the last 6 months.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy (if female).
  • You do not have chronic diseases, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol/triglycerides.
  • You do not take regular medications (birth control pills are okay) and do not smoke or drink heavily.
  • You have no allergies to fish, gelatin, or study supplement ingredients.
