Who can take part
- You are healthy and have no digestive or heart disease, or
- You have been diagnosed with depression for the first time and have not taken psychiatric medication for at least 4 weeks, or
- You have depression plus a heart condition like heart failure, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, or an irregular heartbeat, and have not taken psychiatric medication for at least 4 weeks.
- You have not used antibiotics, yogurt, or other things that affect gut bacteria in the last 4 weeks.
- You have not had an endoscopy or colonoscopy in the past 3 months.
