Eye Drop for Nerve-Damaged Corneas

Neurotrophic Keratitis

This trial tests an experimental eye drop (STSP-0902) for a condition called neurotrophic keratitis, where the cornea (the clear front part of the eye) gets scratches or sores because nerves are damaged. The drop contains a growth factor to help the eye heal. You might be eligible if you have a persistent scratch or sore on your cornea that has not improved for at least a week.

Who can take part

  • You must be 18 to 85 years old.
  • Your eye with nerve damage must have a certain size scratch (at least 2 mm) that has not healed for at least 2 weeks.
  • The surface of your eye must be numb or less sensitive than normal in the damaged area and at least one nearby section.
  • You cannot have an active eye infection, uncontrolled eye inflammation, or other eye diseases that need separate drops.
  • You cannot use certain eye drops (corticosteroids, NSAIDs, or growth-factor drops) a week before starting or during the study.
  • You must agree to use reliable birth control and not plan pregnancy for the study period and 3 months after the last dose.
