Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for aortic surgery that is planned, not an emergency.
  • You are able and willing to provide written informed consent.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 35 or less.
  • You do not have atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm).
  • You do not have end-stage kidney disease (severe kidney failure).
  • You are not pregnant.
