Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You are scheduled for a planned brain surgery (craniotomy) under general anesthesia.
  • You are not allergic to dexamethasone (a steroid medicine).
  • You have not taken any steroid medications in the last 3 months.
  • You do not have severe heart, liver, or kidney disease, or a rheumatic condition (like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis).
  • You do not have serious memory problems, uncontrolled diabetes, an active infection, or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
