Who can take part

  • You have a new ankle sprain, a small bone chip (avulsion fracture), or a break in the smaller shin bone (fibula).
  • Your ankle has hurt for at least 1 day.
  • You are between 18 and 69 years old.
  • You have not used tobacco or nicotine in the last 3 months.
  • You have no nerve or brain condition, chronic pain, autoimmune disease, or metabolic disorder.
  • You have not had surgery on your lower leg or ankle before and have no open wound or active infection.
