Who can take part
- Your bladder cancer has grown into the muscle layer (stage T2 or T3) but has not spread to lymph nodes or distant organs.
- You have a single tumor in your bladder (not multiple tumors).
- Your tumor type is not squamous cell or adenocarcinoma.
- You are healthy enough to undergo a complete tumor removal procedure (TURBT) and receive chemotherapy with radiation (Karnofsky score over 70).
- Your blood counts and kidney function are within certain limits (white blood cells, platelets, hemoglobin, BUN, creatinine).
- You have not had radiation therapy to the bladder area before and can have an MRI scan.
