Who can take part
- Your child is between 1 month and 18 years old
- Your child has been diagnosed with sepsis (a serious infection)
- Your child needs a breathing machine (ventilator) for at least 24 hours
- Your child is in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU)
- Your child does not have a blood disorder like leukemia or anemia that they were born with
- Your child has not had a blood transfusion in the week before starting the breathing machine or during it
