Who can take part

  • Your baby must be fed entirely through a nasogastric tube (a tube through the nose into the stomach) at the start of the study.
  • Your baby must be between 37 and 46 weeks of age (adjusted for prematurity) at the beginning.
  • Your baby must have normal swallowing reflexes, as tested with a special swallowing study.
  • Your baby must not have any life-threatening birth defects or severe brain damage.
  • Your baby must not have a cleft lip or palate, or any previous surgery on the stomach, ears, throat, or brain.
  • Your baby's respiratory support must be less than 2 liters per minute.
