Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You have a performance status (ECOG) of 0, 1, or 2.
  • You have squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth, throat, voice box, or pharynx that was surgically removed.
  • If you had prior chemotherapy or immunotherapy before surgery, it must have been standard care, not experimental.
  • You are able to undergo radiation therapy to the head and neck area, and any additional treatment if needed.
  • You have had a recent physical exam and imaging (CT, MRI, or PET) as part of your workup.
  • If you are a woman who can become pregnant, you are not pregnant and agree to use effective birth control during and for 1 month after radiation. If you are a man, you agree not to father a child during and for 3 months after radiation.
  • You are willing and able to give written informed consent.
