Can gentle nerve stimulation help stroke survivors move better?

This study tests how a gentle electrical stimulation of the arm might improve your sense of position and movement after a stroke. It compares stroke survivors to healthy volunteers to see if this treatment helps your brain reconnect with your arm.

Who can take part

  • You had a stroke (either ischemic or hemorrhagic) that left your arm weak or hard to move.
  • Your stroke happened at least 6 months ago (chronic stage).
  • You have mild to moderate arm weakness (scores 35–53 on a special arm function test).
  • Your arm muscles are not too tight (a score below 3 on a tightness scale).
  • You are able to understand instructions and follow along (MMSE score above 24).
  • You have no other serious health problems that limit arm movement, like severe pain or recent surgery.
