Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have lung cancer (any type or stage, including non-small cell or small cell lung cancer)
  • You are scheduled to receive at least 40 Gy of radiation in 15 treatments (or a similar dose)
  • At least 5 cc of your esophagus will receive a high radiation dose
  • You have not taken a proton pump inhibitor (like omeprazole, pantoprazole) in the last 3 months
  • You do not have painful swallowing before starting the study
