Who can take part

  • You are over 21 years old
  • You have COPD and are having a sudden worsening that needs a breathing machine
  • You have been on the breathing machine for at least 48 hours
  • You do not have severe obesity (BMI higher than 35)
  • You have not had chest surgery recently
  • You do not have a disease that affects your diaphragm muscle
