This trial tests whether adding bevacizumab (a drug that blocks blood vessel growth) to cisplatin (a standard chemotherapy) is better than cisplatin alone for controlling fluid buildup caused by adenocarcinoma. If you have not had prior treatment for this fluid, you may qualify.

Who can take part

  • You have fluid buildup in your chest or belly from a type of cancer called adenocarcinoma (and no known gene mutations).
  • You have not had any previous treatment for this fluid buildup.
  • You are still able to get up and take care of yourself for at least half the day (ECOG score 2 or less).
  • Your doctor expects you to live longer than 3 months.
  • Your blood counts, kidney, and liver function are within certain limits (the study team will check these).
  • You do not have uncontrolled high blood pressure, recent bleeding problems, serious heart or lung issues, or active infections like HIV or hepatitis.
