Who can take part
- You must have a confirmed diagnosis of oral lichen planus, specifically the painful, blistering, or thinning type.
- You cannot have other mouth sores that look like lichen planus but are caused by something else (lichenoid lesions).
- You must not have serious health issues like uncontrolled diabetes, high blood pressure, infections, cancer, or heart, liver, or kidney disease.
- You cannot smoke.
- You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You must not have used any topical (on the skin or mouth) steroids or other treatments for oral lichen planus in the last 2 weeks, or systemic (by mouth or injection) treatments in the last 4 weeks.
- The affected areas in your mouth must not have become stiff or lost their normal flexibility.
