Who can take part

  • You must have been exposed to rabies (Category II or III) and need the vaccine after exposure.
  • If you are age 18 to 59 and healthy, you can join the control group.
  • If you have long-term immune system problems (like certain cancers, autoimmune diseases, or organ transplants), you may join the study group.
  • If you have diabetes, chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, kidney disease, or are age 60 or older, you may also join the study group.
  • You must agree to follow the study schedule and sign a consent form.
  • You cannot have had a rabies vaccine before or have HIV.
