Who can take part
- You must be between 10 and 90 years old.
- You must have severe bleeding caused by an injury or from the upper part of the digestive system (stomach or esophagus).
- Your bleeding must be rapid enough that you need emergency blood transfusion (hemoglobin below 7 g/dL or actively bleeding).
- You need to arrive at the hospital within 24 hours of the bleeding starting.
- You cannot have end-stage organ failure, active cancer, a bleeding disorder, or a history of severe transfusion reactions.
