  • Child is between 6 and 8 years old.
  • Child has at least one permanent first molar that has come in.
  • Child's teeth are either cavity-free or have only very early, small spots (no deep cavities).
  • Child is at moderate or high risk for cavities (as determined by a dentist or risk assessment).
  • Child does not have certain tooth conditions like enamel defects or fluorosis, and has no allergies to milk, methacrylate, or acetone.
  • Child has not had any sealants placed on their permanent first molars before.
