Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • Your heart's pumping strength is at or below 40% (measured within the last 2 months).
  • You have at least two blocked coronary arteries (one being the left anterior descending artery) with at least 70% blockage, or a blockage in the left main artery of over 50%.
  • You are scheduled to have bypass surgery (CABG) or a stent (PCI) within the next 3 months.
  • You do not have another heart condition needing surgery, like a bad heart valve or aneurysm.
  • You do not have any metal implants or devices that are not MRI-safe, and you are not allergic to the contrast dye or stress medications used in the MRI.
