Who can take part

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • A pulmonary artery catheter must be planned for your surgery.
  • You must be scheduled for heart or liver transplant surgery that lasts more than 2 hours.
  • If you are in the heart group, you must have a certain heart rhythm and no signs of heart failure or infection.
  • If you are in the brain injury risk group, you must be 45 or older and have risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, or a history of stroke.
