Who can take part

  • You are bothered by traffic noise or live in a very noisy area (average noise above 45 decibels over 24 hours).
  • You have a known heart or blood vessel condition, or at least one risk factor like high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, or high cholesterol.
  • You are not currently taking certain heart medications (like beta-blockers or high-dose statins specific to this study).
  • Your medications for mental health or heart issues have not changed in the last 3 months.
  • You do not have a history of stroke, brain surgery, seizures, unstable blood pressure, or certain other health issues as listed by the study.
  • You are not pregnant, claustrophobic, over 300 lbs, or have metal implants.
