Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 85 years old and your daily activities are not severely limited (ECOG 0-2).
- You have a type of esophageal cancer called squamous cell carcinoma that has spread to nearby tissues or lymph nodes (stage III or IVA).
- You have already had external beam radiation and chemotherapy with platinum and fluoropyrimidine, but the cancer did not fully go away or came back, and surgery is not an option.
- You have not had immunotherapy before, and you have already started your first dose of nivolumab after chemoradiation.
- Your tumor tests positive for PD-L1 (a protein that helps cancer hide from the immune system) in at least 1% of tumor cells.
- You have at least one tumor that can be measured or seen on scans.
