Who can take part

  • You have a class IV fracture of your lower jaw that needs surgery with metal plates and screws (open reduction and internal fixation).
  • Your general health is stable enough for surgery (for example, diabetes must be well-controlled).
  • You have good dental hygiene and no major oral health problems.
  • You have not had radiation to your head or neck in the last year.
  • You are not pregnant, nursing, or using IV bisphosphonate medications.
  • You do not have severe teeth grinding, substance abuse, or psychiatric issues that could interfere with treatment.
