This trial tests if smartphones and their accessories can detect a specific type of irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation. If you have a form of atrial fibrillation or a normal heart rhythm, you may help see how well these devices work.

Who can take part

  • You must be at least 22 years old
  • You must have either permanent atrial fibrillation, long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation (for 12 months or more), or a confirmed diagnosis of persistent atrial fibrillation or normal sinus rhythm within the past year
  • You cannot have a pacemaker or defibrillator implanted in your chest
  • You cannot have a missing hand, arm, or leg, or be unable to use your hands or arms
  • You must have both index fingers without tattoos, reduced blood flow, or calluses, and you must not be missing all fingers on any hand
