How air pressure during keyhole surgery affects the eye

Who can take part

  • Women between 18 and 65 years old
  • Having laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for gynecologic cancer
  • Classified as ASA I, II, or III (generally healthy to having a serious but stable condition)
  • No diabetic eye disease (diabetic retinopathy)
  • No glaucoma
  • No history of stroke or other cerebrovascular disease
  • Not pregnant
  • No known allergy to anesthesia drugs
  • Not severely obese (BMI not above 40)
