Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for a sedated gastroscopy (a scope to look at your stomach while you are asleep).
  • You have excess belly fat (visceral obesity) — your body mass index is 28 or higher and your BRI score is 5.46 or higher.
  • You are generally healthy enough for light sedation (ASA class Ⅲ or less).
  • You do not have serious heart or lung problems, a recent cold, nose conditions, or a bleeding disorder.
  • You are not pregnant, and you have not had chest surgery in the last week.
  • You are not allergic to the drugs used during the procedure.
