Neurofilament levels in late preterm newborns

This study looks at a substance in the blood called neurofilaments, which may help doctors understand early brain development in babies born a few weeks early. If your baby already needs a blood test, researchers will use a small extra sample to learn more.

  • Your baby was born between 34 and 37 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Your baby already needs a blood test for another medical reason.
  • You, as a parent, can give signed permission for the study.
  • Your baby does not have any known brain or nerve disorders.
  • Your baby does not have serious birth defects.
  • There is no medical reason preventing a blood draw.
