Stopping treatment for kidney cancer based on PET/CT results

This trial tests if people with advanced kidney cancer can safely stop all treatment if a special scan (PET/CT) shows their cancer has shrunk or disappeared. It's for those who have already been on a first-line immunotherapy plus targeted therapy for at least 12 months.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older.
  • You have advanced or metastatic kidney cancer (stage IV).
  • Your cancer is considered favorable or intermediate risk (not poor risk).
  • You have been on your first treatment (a combination of immunotherapy and a targeted therapy pill) for at least 12 months and it has not caused side effects that force you to stop.
  • A PET/CT scan within the last 24 months shows your cancer has either completely disappeared or significantly shrunk.
  • You are able to undergo PET/CT scans and take oral medications.
