Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 89 years old.
  • You have head or neck cancer confirmed by biopsy, or a suspected cancer that will be confirmed during surgery.
  • You are scheduled for a major head and neck cancer surgery lasting over 45 minutes.
  • You have never had a blood clot in your leg or lung (deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism).
  • You do not have severe kidney disease (creatinine clearance at least 30 mL/min).
