Who can take part

  • Your baby had one or more of these conditions: bleeding in the brain, brain injury from low oxygen, severe jaundice, infection in the newborn period, or a serious breathing problem.
  • Your baby was born at less than 37 weeks, weighed less than 1500 grams (about 3.3 pounds), had a low Apgar score (under 3 at 5 minutes), or was part of a multiple birth.
  • Your baby is between 2 and 4 months old (adjusted for prematurity if born early).
  • Your baby does not have a major birth defect like spina bifida, severe muscle or genetic conditions.
