This trial tests if a gentle, home-use electrical brain stimulation device (tDCS) can help people with long-lasting pain that hasn't responded well to other treatments. If you have had pain for at least 6 months and a previous brain stimulation helped only briefly, this study may offer a new option.

Who can take part

  • You have had pain for at least 6 months that happens nearly every day.
  • Your pain level is at least a 4 out of 10 on a typical day.
  • You have a type of pain called 'neuropathic' or 'nociplastic' (your doctor can tell you this).
  • You have tried a specific brain stimulation treatment (rTMS) before and it only helped for less than a month.
  • You do not have any medical conditions that make brain stimulation unsafe, like epilepsy or a metal implant in your head.
  • You are not pregnant, nursing, or taking very high doses of certain pain medications.
