Who can take part

  • You have a new diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma (a type of head and neck cancer) in the mouth, throat, voice box, nose, or sinuses, or in an unknown spot.
  • Your cancer is at a certain stage: stage III or IV (non-metastatic) if not linked to HPV, or stage II or III if linked to HPV.
  • Your doctor thinks you could benefit from induction therapy (treatment before the main treatment) because of your tumor size, growth rate, symptoms, or need to shrink it.
  • Your cancer has a CPS score of 1% or higher (a measure of a protein on cancer cells that helps immunotherapy work).
  • You are 18 or older, can care for yourself (ECOG 0 or 1), and have adequate organ function (kidney, liver, blood counts).
  • You are not pregnant, agree to use contraception, and have not had certain prior treatments like radiation to the head/neck or strong drug interactions.
