Who can take part

  • You have a traumatic injury.
  • You are at least 18 years old, or if your age is unknown, you weigh about 110 pounds or more.
  • You arrive at a participating trauma center within 1 hour of your injury.
  • You have low levels of a clotting protein called fibrinogen when a quick test is done at the hospital.
  • You have severe bleeding (hemorrhagic shock) that requires a blood transfusion and activation of the hospital's massive transfusion protocol.
  • Your doctor decides that IFC treatment is needed and available at the time of enrollment.
