Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 45 years old.
  • You either are generally healthy (normal blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure) or you have metabolic syndrome (at least 3 of: large waist, high triglycerides, low good cholesterol, high blood pressure, high blood sugar).
  • You do not smoke more than 5 cigarettes a month.
  • You do not have serious health conditions like heart disease, diabetes, liver or kidney disease, or a history of seizures or head injury.
  • You are not taking medications for blood pressure, diabetes, or cholesterol (birth control is okay).
  • You are not allergic to lactose and do not need a magnesium-restricted diet.
