  • You are scheduled for a planned (non-emergency) open heart surgery
  • You are not having emergency heart surgery
  • You do not have severe confusion or memory problems
  • You do not have a history of schizophrenia or bipolar disorder
  • You are not legally blind or deaf (unless you use hearing aids)
