  • Diagnosed with liver cirrhosis (by ultrasound or fibroscan)
  • Currently in the hospital for a sudden complication like fluid in the belly (ascites), confusion (hepatic encephalopathy), bleeding from veins in the throat (variceal bleeding), or a belly infection (SBP)
  • No prior liver transplant
  • Not pregnant
