- You have cervical cancer that is best treated with radiation, chemotherapy, and brachytherapy (internal radiation).
- Your cancer is at a stage that is still confined to the pelvis (stage IB2 to IVA).
- You have not had any cancer treatment before this (like radiation, chemotherapy, or surgery for this cancer).
- Your kidneys work well enough (creatinine clearance at least 50) to receive the chemotherapy drug cisplatin.
- You are not pregnant, not breastfeeding, and use birth control if needed.
- You do not have any other active cancer or serious infection that would prevent full treatment.
