Who can take part
- You must be 18 to 75 years old.
- You must have a type of head and neck cancer called squamous cell carcinoma that has come back or spread and cannot be removed by surgery or treated with chemo and radiation together.
- For the combination group, you must not have had any prior systemic anti-cancer treatment, OR if you had chemo or targeted therapy after surgery, your cancer must have come back at least 6 months after your last dose.
- You must have at least one tumor that can be measured on a CT or MRI scan.
- You must be able to take care of yourself (ECOG score 0 or 1).
- You must not have untreated or active brain metastases, certain other cancers within the past 3 years, or active autoimmune diseases.
