  • You are between 21 and 65 years old
  • You are having an emergency surgery on your belly through a midline incision
  • Your physical status is classified as ASA I, II, or III (generally healthy to moderate illness)
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You do not have a body mass index (BMI) below 18 or above 35
  • You have no severe heart, liver, or kidney problems
