Who can take part
- You are female and between 18 and 70 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with breast cancer and are scheduled to have a mastectomy followed by immediate DIEP flap breast reconstruction (a procedure that uses your own belly tissue to rebuild the breast).
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form after understanding the study.
- You do not have severe heart, liver, or kidney problems, a current infection, autoimmune disease, or take long-term steroids or immune-suppressing drugs.
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
