Study on eating behavior in children ages 7-9

This study looks at how children's eating habits relate to their health. Children aged 7 to 9 who are either a healthy weight or have obesity may join, along with their biological mother (who must meet certain weight criteria) and the parent who manages feeding.

Who can take part

  • Your child must be 7 to 9 years old.
  • Your child must be in good general health (overweight is okay, but no other major health issues).
  • Your child must not have learning disabilities, ADHD, autism, or developmental delays.
  • Your child must speak English well.
  • Your child should not be taking any medicines that affect weight, taste, or behavior, and must have no metal in their body (like braces or implants) so they can safely have an MRI.
  • The biological mother must have a BMI either between 18.5-25.0 (healthy weight) or 30.0 or higher (obese). The parent who handles feeding must come to visits.
