Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older.
  • You have atrial fibrillation (AF) that comes and goes or is persistent, and you've had at least one episode that stopped on its own in the last 4 months.
  • You are willing to avoid other heart rhythm treatments (like certain medications, cardioversion, or ablation) during the study.
  • You are willing to have a small device called a loop recorder placed under your skin to monitor your heart rhythm.
  • You have not had an AF ablation other than a specific type called pulmonary vein isolation.
