Focal vs. full prostate treatment study

Prostate Cancer

Part of Cancer, Kidney & urinary clinical trials.

This trial tests whether targeting only the visible cancer spots on MRI (focal therapy) works as well as treating the whole prostate, for men with small, moderate-risk prostate cancer that hasn't spread.

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with prostate adenocarcinoma (the most common type of prostate cancer).
  • Your cancer is Grade Group 2, 3, or 4 (meaning it is not the least aggressive or most aggressive).
  • On MRI, the visible cancer area(s) are small: either one lesion no larger than 3 ml, or two lesions each no larger than 1.5 ml.
  • The cancer does not appear to have spread outside the prostate (no gross EPE).
  • Your doctor confirms that focal therapy can remove the entire visible cancer with a safe margin.
  • You do not have a very aggressive (Grade Group 5) cancer, more than two significant lesions, or cancer in a hard-to-reach spot (like the very tip or base of the prostate).
