Who can take part
- You are 60 years or older.
- You have one of these spine conditions: scoliosis (curved spine), coronal imbalance, lumbar spinal stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal in the lower back), lumbar disc herniation (slipped disc in the lower back), or cervical spondylosis (arthritis in the neck affecting the spinal cord).
- You are scheduled for open spine fusion surgery (where your surgeon will join two or more bones in your spine).
- You have not had spine surgery before.
- You do not have other nerve or muscle diseases (like Parkinson's), inflammatory diseases (like ankylosing spondylitis), infections (like spinal TB), sepsis, tumors, or lower limb joint problems that affect walking.
- You do not have severe heart, brain, liver, or kidney disease, mental illness, dementia, or skin damage on your lower back.
