Strength and interval training before cancer treatment

Healthy Adult Male and Female VolunteersIntervention

This study tests whether a mix of resistance (strength) training and high-intensity interval training (short bursts of hard exercise) can help people get stronger and healthier before starting cancer treatment. It takes place at Royal Derby Hospital and requires a commitment to attend about 8 sessions.

Who can take part

  • You are willing and able to attend at least 8 exercise sessions and 2 assessments at Royal Derby Hospital.
  • You do NOT have known active cancer.
  • Your BMI is between 18 and 35 (a healthy weight range).
  • You do NOT have serious heart, lung, or blood vessel problems (like recent heart attack, uncontrolled high blood pressure, severe asthma, or a blood-clotting disorder).
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have not joined another research study in the past 3 months that involved needles or payment.
